Alerts in Ruuvi Station

Ruuvi Station is able to trigger alerts by reading measurements from local Bluetooth sensors or from measurements that are received from Ruuvi Cloud.

Alerts can be configured in Sensor Settings.

In mobile, Ruuvi Station alerts are displayed in two locations within the Ruuvi Station app: an alert will trigger a notification to be displayed as Notification Message (mobile only), an Alert (bell) icon will be displayed on any individual sensor Card (full image view, dashboard) and values will be highlighted with colour to indicate the specific sensor, which has triggered the alert.

In web, Ruuvi Station alerts are indicated by alert (bell) icon and coloured values on dashboard as well as full sensor card.

Furthermore, an email notification will be sent to the email address used to sign in on your Ruuvi account when you have claimed sensor ownership and are signed in (requires a Ruuvi Gateway router and Ruuvi Cloud Consumer Pro or higher subscription). Push alert notifications are also available on Ruuvi Station mobile app (Android and iOS) for Ruuvi Cloud subscribers (requires a Ruuvi Gateway router and Ruuvi Cloud Consumer Basic or higher subscription). Alert notification source can be configured in the app settings when user is signed in to Ruuvi Station app.

All alert types can be set to enabled or disabled individually by switching the on/off toggle under any individual alert type. Ruuvi Station supports two different measurement data sources for triggering alerts that can be used individually or in conjunction with each other: local Bluetooth connection and Ruuvi Cloud. Cloud based alerts are only available when signed in to a Ruuvi account (requires Ruuvi Gateway). Enable Cloud mode in App Settings -> Ruuvi Cloud when you wish to receive alerts only via Ruuvi Cloud.

Alert types and limits:

Temperature

Temperature alerts will be triggered if a value is recorded outside the selected range. Operating range can be set anywhere between -40 and +85 (Celsius), -40 and +185 (Fahrenheit) or 233 and 358 (Kelvin) respectively.

Additionally, an extended temperature alert range can be set to use when editing range manually between -55 and +150 (Celsius) when using the external TMP117 sensor (available soon).

Relative air humidity

Humidity alert will be triggered if a value is recorded outside the selected range. Operating range can be set anywhere between 0 and 100.

Humidity alert can only be set using relative humidity (%) unit values.

Air pressure

Air pressure alert will be triggered if a value is recorded outside the selected range. Operating range can be set anywhere between 30,000 and 110,000 (Pa, Android only), 300 and 1,100 (hPa), 9 and 32 (inHg) or 225 and 813 (mmHg).

Pascal air pressure unit is available on the Android and web version of Ruuvi Station. Pa units are converted to hPa in Ruuvi Cloud when synchronising settings to iOS version of Ruuvi Station app (requires Ruuvi account).

RSSI (Received Signal Strength)

RSSI alert will be triggered if a value is recorded outside the selected range. Operating range can be set anywhere between -105 and 0 (dBm).

Note! Using RSSI alert on iOS requires you to be signed into the app, that you have claimed the ownership of the sensor and it’s in the range of Ruuvi Gateway router. iOS devices are unable to indicate signal strength information of received data sent by Ruuvi sensor when sensor is paired and measurements are being received in the background. Signal strength used in this alert is defined by your sensor distance to the nearest Ruuvi Gateway router. Furthermore, real-time Bluetooth signal strength is shown in the app (under More info) but it doesn’t affect this alert.

Movement

A movement alert is triggered whenever a change is detected in any of the sensor accelerometer’s three axes. Movement is monitored at a rate of 10 Hz, with the RuuviTag maintaining a 254-level counter that resets to zero after reaching maximum steps. The movement counter increments when acceleration on any axis surpasses a threshold of 64 mG, and the acceleration must drop below 64 mG before the next movement event is registered.

Connection (iOS)

Connection alert will be triggered when Bluetooth connection is disconnected or connected. This alert is only available on Ruuvi Station iOS.

Cloud Connection

Cloud Connection alert will be triggered when sensor has not been updated to Ruuvi Cloud within a specified time. This alert requires a Ruuvi Gateway router and Ruuvi Cloud Pro or higher subscription. This alert is not visible if user is not signed in to Ruuvi account on the device.

Please note that you cannot set this feature directly to indicate that a specific Ruuvi Gateway is offline, but any sensor in range of a specific Ruuvi Gateway would trigger a Cloud Connection alert.

Alert delay (web)

Alert delay can be currently set on Ruuvi Station web only.

This feature requires a Ruuvi Gateway router and Ruuvi Cloud Business Starter subscription level.

With this feature, triggering any available alert type can be delayed until a specific time has passed. Alert delay is only visible when user is signed into Ruuvi account on the device.
